Founded in 2014 by Burhan Kaplan, STRAD – Structural Art & Design – is a structural design firm based in Istanbul.
We design feasible and sustainable structural projects, prioritizing aesthetics, economy, and safety for the realization of original architectural projects. We undertake new superstructure projects and restoration-reconstruction projects for historical buildings, primarily using steel and wood, but also including masonry, reinforced concrete, and combined / hybrid materials and systems.
We work with a team of architects and engineers who are continuous solution partners, playing an active role in the design process from the initial stages of projects. We guide the design with 3D architectural and structural modeling, and we actively coordinate all structural and non-structural disciplines to ensure feasibility. We provide on-site support to the construction phase of the buildings we undertake, offering fast, practical, and implementable solutions.
